Local Publix stores and Produce for Kids are teaming up to host the second annual Healthy Schools, Healthy Minds campaign. Now through October 24th, shoppers can help raise money for local schools through DonorsChoose.org by adding produce to their Publix shopping lists.
Shoppers can be on the lookout for the Produce for Kids display unit – featuring characters from popular Sprout shows, LazyTown™ and Noodle and Doodle – in the produce section of all Publix stores. During the campaign, participating fresh fruit and vegetable suppliers will make a donation to DonorsChoose.org to support local classroom projects based on consumption of their fresh produce
items. The more items shoppers add to their shopping lists, the more local classrooms will benefit.Produce for Kids is an organization that encourages healthy eating among families by providing simple, healthy meal solutions and resources for parents. PFK raises funds for local children’s non-profit organizations; over $3.7 million dollars have been raised to benefit kids since PFK’s inception.
“We have been partnering with Produce for Kids for the past 10 years, and together, we have helped educate our customers about the importance of healthy food choices,” said Maria Brous, Publix media and community relations director. “By working with Produce for Kids, and helping support local classrooms, we are teaching children how to eat in order to make their bodies strong and healthy.”
